“And Sandy, the aurora is rising behind us
This pier lights our carnival life forever
Oh, love me tonight, for I may never see you again
Hey, Sandy girl
My, my, baby” ~ Bruce Springsteen, 4th of July Asbury Park
Bruce Springsteen wrote that in the ’70s, when he used to be good and long before he turned into a disgusting liberal troll.
Well as all of you know Sandy hit New York City yesterday.
Up until a year and a half ago I used to live on East 21st in Manhattan. If I still lived there I would have been in the flood/blackout zone. Part of me still wishes I lived there so I could have taken some pictures.
But now I live in upper Manhattan and between me and the flood zone lay nine miles of urban inner city (and without a car and no subways for the foreseeable future I had no way of getting down there.)
As for where I live in Washington Heights we had of course strong wind gusts and torrential rains. But I still have power. Other than all the downed tree branches it’s pretty much normal here.
This poor guy’s white van was crushed like a tin can.
Now that I think of it, a suspicious white van? All that was missing was a sign that said “Free candy kids! Come into my van I won’t hurt you!” and it might have been King Shamus’ van.
Of course the Capitalists were out, trafficking in human misery.
And finally I thought our SCOAMF was supposed to lower sea levels?

Glad you’re OK. Looks like a guy will need scuba gear to ride a subway, though.
Glad to hear you’re alright.
Dude, that is totally not my van.
My van has “Free Candy” written on the side.
Anyhoo, besides the lack of power everything is fine. They say it’ll be a few days before we get power back. Meanwhile, I’m going to rely on the kindness of my homies to hook me up with the little things…like bathing.
How’s everything in Manhattan?
So now there are sharks in the sewers and subways?
Glad to hear uou are okay!
Good to hear you are in 1 piece.
